Way, way back in 2013, Hub Box first opened its doors to the Exeter high street. Six years later the team has moved into a swanky new site, located on Catherine Street.
Last Thursday we invited the local press to visit us at our new, much larger home and we raised a glass, or six to celebrate the opening of this spectacular new location and its new interior. The design and layout consists of a large open plan dining area, bar and rooftop terrace that all provides a subtle nod to the eatery’s nautical roots in the South West with a classic Hub Box twist.
Over 160 people flocked to Catherine Street to get a taste of the action and be some of the first to experience the new flavours brewing at Hub Box!

This new two-storey location has created a much larger kitchen space. This has enabled our team to work alongside development Chef, James Strawbridge to develop new dishes and flavours which expand on our signature menu and utilise the latest edition to our Hubbox kitchen, the Ox Grill. The grill enhances the flavours of the South West, infusing local ingredients with smokey tones of British charcoal transporting diners back to BBQ’s on the beach, without the worry of burning the sausages!
This year will see the opening of new sites in both Barnstaple and Plymouth, and if you like what you see, then you’re in luck as this is just the beginning…
This March we are taking Hub Box back to its roots, in the coastal town of St Ives, with a revamp and expansion at the site where it all began.
This will be the most dramatic transformation for the Hub legacy since opening in 2003 – evolving the base of our iconic harbour front restaurant right into the building next door to bring you a bigger, better base at Hub St Ives.
