What the Hubbox staff have been getting up to under lockdown

Hub Box Over Lockdown

As lockdown is coming to an end, we are getting ready to welcome you back into our restaurants safely.

But first, we’d love to fill you in with what we’ve been up to during lockdown. It’s been a hard and uncertain time for everyone, but we really wanted to make sure we carried our ethos through with us of being good, doing good sh*t and having good times. Those good times shared with friends, colleagues and family have turned virtual, & can no longer happen in our laid back HBX environment. So we took to the drawing board…

We didn’t want to be one of those businesses who tries to hard-sell you a product during this time or even one who stays quiet and ignores the situation. We wanted you to know that we’re going through this with you, so from this came the idea of a Lockdown Live Stream. 4 hours of tunes, two shaved heads, and a huge amount of generosity later, we managed to raise almost £3000! There were definitely some sore heads in the morning, but everyone involved had a great time and we’re glad we could help to lift the spirits whilst donating to those who needed us during that time.

Next, so many of our team members got involved in the 5K run for heroes to raise even more money for charity- nice one guys, doing us proud! Thinking… what else can we do? We got in touch with our mates at Nomad to borrow their food truck, pimped it out with an HBX kitchen & headed to Bodmin, St Austell & Liskeard hospitals to feed the lovely NHS staff some good grub. It was great meeting the people who are working tirelessly to fight this virus, a massive thank you to you guys! Big love.

The local beach to Hub St Ives, Porthmeor, hasn’t been patrolled by RNLI lifeguards over lockdown, so off-duty guards and St Ives Surf School took on the mission to keep the beach safe with big swell forecasted. Since opening Hub for takeaway, we served them up a lunch on us to say thanks for doing such a good job!
