Specially converted from a 30 foot shipping container into a fully modern mini-restaurant with a full commercial kitchen and seating for 20 inside and decking and further seating outside, the fully licensed Hub Box is a mini-version of Richard’s renowned St Ives business and was lowered into Lemon Quay from the arm of a crane 60 foot above the city centre.

Hub Head chef Alex Towill has overseen the menu which includes the Hub’s popular range of hand made burgers, Big Apple Hot Dogs, made from 98% free range Pork, pulled Pork sandwiches and the Hub Big Mack Daddy – crispy Cornish Mackerel with Beetroot Jam and Horseradish Mayo.

The menu that Alex has devised uses the very best Cornish ingredients in a really relaxed yet quality way has been winning rave reviews in St Ives and we felt the style of food we are producing lent itself brilliantly to a cool pop-up mini version of the Hub – so decided to go out and create one.

The HUBBOX is a culinary project inspired by the kitchens of The Williamsburg District, New York.

HUBBOX has arrived in the city – a unique food venue – think specially created and fully customised shipping container housed in the heart of a transformed city center building which it’s creators – talented chef Alex Towill and award-winning restaurateur Richard Boon – say, aims to mix great food and drink with urban styling.

The menu combines American classics – which Alex fell in love with whilst working and living in New York – using the very best ingredients that the South West has to offer.

The menu includes a range of home-made burgers, gourmet hot-dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and beef brisket – smoked for 12 hours in the Hub’s own in-house smoker – as well as South-West inspired Mack-Daddy – a crispy Cornish mackerel fillet with beetroot jam and horseradish mayo served on a soft, hand crafted burger-roll.

There are also vegetarian options, a kids menu, a range of sides and a selection of craft beers in bottles and on draft along with the option to eat in or take-away.

This is a unique dining experience where you can come in, grab a beer, soak up the ambiance and get down an’ dirty with some Classic American style burgers.
